BERLIN (April 24 – May 30, 2009) The Connecticut Cabaret Theatre is pleased to announce its production of the pop rock musical comedy THE FULL MONTY. Proudly sponsored by FITNESS BY DESIGN in Berlin (www.fitnessbydesign.com)
In this Americanized version adapted from the 1997 British film of the same name, six unemployed Buffalo steelworkers, low on both cash and prospects, decide to present a strip act at a local club after seeing their wives' enthusiasm for a touring company of Chippendales. Seeing how much their wives enjoy watching male strippers during their "Girls' Night Out," unemployed steelworkers in Buffalo New York come up with a bold way to make some quick cash. In the process they find renewed self-esteem, the importance of friendship and the ability to have fun. As the guys work through their fears, self-consciousness, feelings of worthlessness and anxieties (over everything from being overweight to child custody, bigotry to being gay), they come to discover that not only are they stronger as a group, but that the strength they find in each other gives them the individual courage to face their demons and overcome them. There is great heart to THE FULL MONTY, and the ultimate themes expressed in the show, about taking charge of one's life and following one's dreams are great lessons for all of us.
The Connecticut Cabaret has assembles a stellar cast of characters to form this exciting and bold show. These six male co-stars are on a mission in a musical that dares to bare. Together they create a powerfully talented group of performers. JUSTIN BOUDREAU, who plays "Jerry", the man behind the plan, determined to not lose custody of his son. Justin has been in several productions and is a crowd favorite. ERIC MICHAEL GRAY will play "Dave", Jerry's best friend and confidant. Eric too familiar with the Cabaret stage will bring comic timing and heart to the show. MATTHEW COLLIN MARRERO will play the role of "Malcolm", a young gay man looking for something from life but struggling under his ill mother's thumb. Matthew is no stranger to the stage and will bring his comedic timing and emotional depth. Matthew also will act as the primary choreographer for the show. BEN SANDERS tackles the role of "Noah a.k.a ‘HORSE'" with his soulful James Brown like approach letting all his friends and ladies know there is nothing like "a big black man!" Funny man TOM ROOHR steps into the role of "Harold", the men's former supervisor turned choreographer. And rounding out the stripper team is newcomer COLE SUTTON, making his debut on the CT Cabaret stage. He brings a fresh new talent and plenty of other surprises for the show! Together these six guys are dynamite, ready to explode like fireworks.
But of course, great men can't go on without great women behind them. And this show co-stars several extremely beautiful and talented women.CAROLYN KIRSCH, Broadway veteran from the original "A CHORUS LINE" steps one again on the CT Cabaret, playing the witty role of "Jeanette". She's the piano player for the guys as they learn their strip routine, and being around the block once or twice has a lot of advice to give. JULIE LEMOS, a Cabaret favorite, is the bawdy and strong-minded "Georgie", the woman who arranges the Chippendales to visit the ladies of Buffalo. ELLEN LACATIA &CINDY LESSER share the role throughout the run as the lovingly spoiled "Vicki", the wife to "Harold". Together with a talented ensemble of characters, the CT Cabaret promises a stellar show. Not one to miss.
